St. Joseph's Academy was founded on 29 January 1964 by Msgr. Jose A. Alojipan, HP. This was after the Archbishop of Cebu, His Eminence Julio Cardinal Rosales, requested him to establish a Catholic school. The ICM Religious Sisters (Immaculate Cordis Mariae) was tapped to help prepare for the opening of the School Year 1964-1965.
